BE90 and BE100 course designer.

Angus - head shotFloors Castle Horse Trials are delighted to announce that Angus Smales will be the course designer for the BE90 and BE100 courses at this year’s event. Since the introduction of a new committee three years ago, the event has undergone a number of changes including improved hospitality, a shake up in the layout and record levels of prize money. It is hoped that bringing Angus on board is another change that will revitalise this leading Scottish event.

Angus is a popular rider and has been described as one of Britain’s leading young talents in the sport. Rising through the ranks at his local Pony Club, Angus is now a regular competitor at events throughout Britain and the rest of Europe including Burghley Horse Trials and Branham. When he isn’t competeting, Angus can be seen whipping in for the Fernie.

Angus says: “Floors used to be a local event of mine when I was based in Northumberland so I am looking forward to heading north again for this exciting new project. Floors Castle is a breathtaking venue and I hope to be able to utilise all that the site has to offer when creating educational, and above all, fair tests of both the BE90 and 100 tracks. Ian Stark has been a mentor of mine for some time now so I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to work alongside him on these grass root courses”.

The organisers of the horse trials are “delighted to have Angus on board and look forward to working with him to design a fantastic course for our BE90 and BE100 competitors”
